The Bush Bulge

Does Bush wear an earpiece, and did he wear one during the first debates?

That's the latest theory from the left, and they claim they have proof. I decided to investigate myself, but unsurprisingly, I found there was little to look into.

There are the pictures. Supposedly, Bush has a bulge on the back of his suit during the first debate. I am assuming these photos are not doctored. I did not notice a bulge during the debates, but then again I don't think the bulge in the photos is particularly noticeable either.

The bulge seems pretty inconclusive. Then there is a supposed audio feed of Bush being fed the answer to a question provided by David Gregory. The audio I heard was provided by the White House itself, and it is possible that the audio was altered. I did hear a second voice on the audio feed. It does sound similar to what Bush is saying, but not exact. It is very low, and very muffled, but from what I can tell, the audio in question is not someone feeding Bush his answers, but rather a translation of his words into French. That it appears BEFORE his answer should not cause concern. The event is likely delayed to make interpretation seem simultaneous.

The last piece of evidence is the most convincing, yet that isn't saying much. This video is supposedly of Bush being fed his own words through some sort of secret audio feed.

I remain unconvinced. The audio appears to be some sort of pre-echo, caused by either an intentional or unintentional delay of the live feed.

Furthermore, to accept this theory, you have to assume that Bush is either too stupid to come up with his own answers, or so smart he can listen to answers while simultaneously giving them... or both. You also have to accept that IF Bush was wearing a device during the debates, the man feeding him answers would have had to be even dumber than he was, because Bush was lousy last week.

But hey, if you want to be a conspiracy nut, I won't stop you.

10-11-04 Update: Bloggers continue to investigate the possibility that President Bush uses an audio prompter in his ear, and may have done so during the first (and possibly second) debate.

Included as further proof is this picture. It's of Bush in a pickup truck, with a visible bulge underneath his t-shirt. The bulge does look very much like the bulge underneath his suit during the first debate.

But does Bush really need a hidden prompter in his ear in order to drive a truck!? I mean, use common sense here people. Either it is just an optical illusion, or something else. Perhaps some sort of security technology. Perhaps Bush has an undisclosed health problem.

Some of these people have come to unrealistic conclusions, and they're grasping at anything that might fit with their preconcieved notions. This reminds me of those who desperately want to prove the existence of ETs and UFOs.

10-26-04 Update 2: I still haven't found convincing evidence. The people advancing the theory aren't even pretending to be objective anymore, calling the White House "liars." They keep coming up with pictures of the President, and I don't find any of them particularly convincing. Probably the problem is lack of familiarity. I doubt these people have ever actually WORN a suit. They don't always fit like you want them to.
