December's November Volunteering Update

I've been really tired lately and I find the weather to be really icky. Michael and I had a very uneventful Halloween, with only one trick-or-treater stopping by. Michael gave her two pieces of candy, despite the fact we have a bag of 200 assorted chocolate bars. I've made myself nearly sick eating so many.

I didn't volunteer for a couple of weeks at the hospital, but I did yesterday, and it was really refreshing. Joey, the PSR and the person I work with the most, is a stressed out perfectionist who makes being there harder than it should be, and he was gone. His replacement was a sweet natured woman named Vi. I secretly wish she was the permanent PSR. It was a real girls day, with no men on our ward at all, so we all had a good time.

I've been looking into becoming a certified nursing assistant while I'm going to school, but there's virtually nowhere I can find where I can train and go to school at the same time. The nursing home wanted me to work ten hour days to train me, and the CNA training institute wants nearly $800. It's very frustrating. My college doesn't offer a program (it recently closed) so I can't get it through them either. They do offer certification in phlebotomy, though, which would give me valuable experience, so I'm considering doing that.

Michael and I are both anxiously waiting to see how this election turns out. I have a feeling it'll be as much as a circus, in terms of the lawsuits and cries of foul, that the election of 2000 was. I hope I'm wrong.
