The Ridiculousness of So-called "Black Friday"
Well, yesterday was apparently called Black Friday, even though I've never heard this term before in my life. The day after Thanksgiving used to be so much fun. You'd get to wake up super early and get a head start on your holiday shopping. It was a time to get together with family, to see the latest and greatest gadgets, gifts, and toys.
But now the day after Thanksgiving is the day where you wake up as early as possible to get in line at Wal-Mart and then trample others so you can get one of five plasma televisions. And when you can't get those, Wal-Mart has plenty of other junk you can get.
Last night on the news, they featured excited customers who had purchased cheap televisions and camcorders. They were so excited that the police had to be called to control things. In other cities people were trampled on and needed medical attention. In Florida some losers got in a fight.
For some reason early morning Wal-Mart deals make people act like animals. A couple years ago we tried to get in on a great Gamecube deal. Despite being some of the first people in the store, we missed out... then we were trapped by the hordes of disgusting customers who were too eager to purchase cheap Chinese televisions and DVD players that undoubtedly have already found their ways to landfills.
And yesterday we were treated to video after video of poor eager customers (by poor, I actually mean they have no money) who had fallen on the floor and were being ignored by other poor customers (by poor, I mean morally and ethically bankrupt) whose sole focus was great deals on crummy products.
I really don't like Wal-Mart.
Other stores aren't worth the trouble either. You can't find parking, the lines wrap around the stores (inside and out), and most of the good deals are gone within a half hour of opening. It's not worth the hassle anymore. Next year, stay home and have a good laugh.

Some people go way overboard. This year's deals weren't really all that great, except for some stuff at Wal-Mart that isn't even name brand and will fall apart as soon as you get it home. I hate Wal Mart too. I stayed home, and I had a great laugh. They showed this video of people running for their lives into Wal Mart when the doors opened, and some people got trampled (2 went to the hospital, but they're ok). One lady fell down, and before she got up, picked up her wig and threw it on her head. It was the funniest trampling I have ever seen.
