The $64,000 Question... er... Volkswagen
Why is this VW New Beetle selling for $64,950?!
I mean, it looks to be a nice car, but not THAT nice of a car. It's at Park Place, too, which means it's not a typo.
UPDATE: Park Place wrote me and explained why the car is so outrageously expensive.
Check out this one of a kind, HPA modified Beetle. Featured in many magazines, its 2.8L VR6 boasts a stage II twin turbo with intercoolers and pumps out 490hp (0-60 in 3.2 secs.), put to the pavement through a 4motion all-wheel-drive system. It has a hardened clutch upgrade and hardened / lengthened transmission gears allowing an HPA claimed top speed of about 192.5mph. The suspension has been upgraded to KW Variant III adjustable coilovers, and the brakes have been upgraded to 14-in rotors with Brembo 6-piston calipers in front and 12-in rotors with sport pads on the rear. No expense was spared with over $70k invested in this incredible automobile. With over 500lb-ft of torque, describing this car is somewhat difficult. With such unbelievable power, you will have enough to shame many supercars. Just dont forget to hang on.
Cool. But you're still driving a 1998 Volkswagen New Beetle. I mean, for the same price you could also buy on their lot this 1997 Dodge Viper GTS.
