Dick Cheney Isn't Going to Resign
US News reports that rumors are flying that Dick Cheney is going to resign over the whole Valerie Plame scandal. Fascinating, but I liked this rumor the first time I heard it, when Dick Cheney was going to resign due to health issues. Both rumors winded up with Condi as VP, opening up the possiblity of a Rice 2008 bid for the top spot.
You know, it would be brilliant if true. But Cheney doesn't want to be the next Spiro Agnew... he's not going to resign over a scandal.
One possibility: maybe he IS going to resign over health issues, but the MSM party threw the scandal out there as a way to make the whole thing reflect badly on the administration. Having Cheney say "I don't have the heart for this job anymore, literally," would go over fairly well with the electorate, but the MSM strikes first by creating the perception that there's something more.
