Things I Love About My Wife: #1
In the summer of 2002, a few days after Jennifer and I started dating (and before most people even knew) I found myself paralyzed as I woke up. Sleep paralysis is not uncommon for me, though it occurs far less than it used to. But it can be very scary, and often once I actually wake up I'll react very abruptly. It was no different on this particular morning. When I finally was able to move I grabbed the nearest object and pulled myself up. That's when I realized where I was... I turned and looked at Jennifer, whose face was now level with mine. And there she was, looking at me. How embarrassing. I began to explain, but there was no response. She just stared at me. I waved my hand around, I moved from side to side, and I even recreated my jolting reaction, just to see if there was any response whatsoever.
No, Jennifer didn't respond at all. She was fast asleep... asleep, but her eyes were open. Could she have gotten any cuter? Well, yes, but that's all right. The #1 (not in any particular order I should mention) thing I love about my wife is that sometimes she sleeps with her eyes open.
