Heidi Fleiss Opening Stud Farm
Apparently Heidi Fleiss is opening up a Nevada "Stud Farm" featuring male prostitutes. She says it's high time working women get to spend their hard earned money on having sex with men. Fleiss says sex with the men will cost $250 an hour, with the ranch taking half. I can see two pretty big flaws with this business model.
1) A woman who wants to have sex with a strange man can quite easily do so for free. The reason men pay for sex is because women hold the power. If I walk up to a woman and ask her to have sex with me, chances are she will say no. But if a woman does the same to a man, there's a much better chance that he will go along with it, especially if he's in a bar looking for just that.
2) An oversupply of male "labor" could drive the value of male prostitution to nearly $0. The "studs" at the Fleiss ranch will be making $125 an hour, but I think there are many men who would take the job at lower rates, including those who will do it for free. A wealth of horny young college men could drive the Fleiss ranch out of business.
So you've got a basic supply/demand issue here. I can't imagine a lot of demand for male prostitution services, and it seems like there would be an oversupply of potential male prostitutes who would offer competing services.
