Forgotten Four-Cylinders
Today we celebrate two forgotten cars of the 1990s.
The first is the 1992-1997 Toyota Paseo.
Based off the Toyota Tercel, the Paseo was supposed to be an entry level sports coupe, despite a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that only produced 100HP.
100HP wasn't too bad for the day, but it hardly made the Paseo a sports car, even with it's racy looks.
----
The second car is the Hyundai Scoupe.
It too was a sport coupe based on a popular econobox, in this case, the Hyundai Excel.
Sold from 1990 to 1995, the Scoupe was powered by an 81HP 1.5L 4-cylinder, which might be considered powerful for a lawn mower.
Back in community college, I knew a girl that drove a teal Scoupe. We spent a lot of time together, but she had a boyfriend.
Anyway, here's a salute to these two fine forgotten friends... imported econocoupes for those of us who couldn't afford real sports cars!
